The commercial farming industry in this country has been taken over by the multi-national chemical companies like Monsanto and Dow Chemicals. In fact, they are doing their best to erradicate organic farming practices altogether. Monsanto is pushing farmers to buy seeds from them that 1. cannot pollinate and produce seeds for next season (forced to buy more seeds from them) and 2. the seeds are already impregnated with a pesticide (Roundup). The soil at these large farming complexes is devoid of inorganic minerals (if it is not in the soil, it is not in the food) and is essentially dead (no live microbes or bacteria that give organic fruits and vegetables the vital energy they need to grow as God intended. It is time to not only make yourself aware of what is happening to your food, it is time to take action for you and your family to ensure that you get all the organic greens and fruits your cells need to function properly. Do you best to shop at local farmers markets to organic produce that is grown in the region. It is good for the earth and it is good for you. Her is some info on what is, and what is not, organic farming:
Organic Farming vs. Conventional Farming
Organic farming is based on the principle of working with the earth instead of getting her to do what we want through chemical coersion.Organic farming uses a variety of methods to improve soil fertility, including crop rotation, cover cropping, application of compost, and mulching. Organic farmers also use processed natural fertilizers such as bone meal, blood meal, and various mineral powders such as rock phosphate and greensand, a naturally occurring form of potash.
Crop diversity
Planting a variety of crops from year to year is an important and essential characteristic of organic farming practices. Unfortunatley today, conventional farming focuses on mass production of a single crop in a single location, this type of farming is referred to as mono-culture, or mono-farming.This makes a lot of sense for the big Agra-farmers because they will spend less money on specialized equipment, fertilizers, herbicides, fungisides, and insecticides for a single crop than one using bio-diversityThere is a farming science called “agroecology”, this approach to farming takes advantage of all that nature has taught farmers over the last, oh I don’t know, few centuries, to utilize crop rotation, use insects for pest control instead of harmful chemicals (Lady Bugs are natural born killers).Hey, how about putting the right types of beneficial bacteria and micro-organisms back in that healthy soil is supposed to have. The best approach to farming, and this is what organic farming is based on, is to plant a variety of crops in the same area, this is called poly-culture.
Protocolsupplements.com Welcome to another installment of Cody’s Rants, well not so much a rant as an overview of the poison that is being perpetrated on you and your family under the heading of “sugar Free”. Do yourself a favor and take a pro-active role in finding out about what you are putting into your, and your children, body. Don’t be fooled, be smart. A great site to find info on these sugar free sweeteners is at Dr. Mercola’s site. He has quite a video library on the subject. And remember, if you have to sweeten something, use sugar, your body uses it as fuel. If you are diabetic, use Stevia, it has no affect on insulin levels. This video compares the different sweeteners available. Aspartame, Splenda,Stevia, Saccharin, and sugar are briefly described as to the worst to the best.
There isa funny thing about athletes and the way they are expected to behave when they reach a certain level of acclaim and fame. Take the case of Michael and one of his sponsors, Kelloggs. Now it is unfortunate that someone with a camera phone thought it would be a good idea to take the now infamous picture of him and sell it to the tabloids for an estimated $400. It was definitely a bone head maneuver on Michael’s part to pull a big fat bong rip where nosy cameras could capture his technique, and if he was concerned about the fallout from the pot, I think it would have been more with the drug testing he must comply with to stay eligible for competition than how his bong form was.
The real problem, and the reason for this rant, is not that Michael Phelps smoked some weed, he would have to deal with the consequences, it is the fact that Kelloggs doesn’t think that he portrays the right image anymore. This comes from a company that makes breakfast cereals with name like Pop Tarts, Frosted Flakes, Frosted Mini Wheats, and Fruit Loops. I used to smoke my share of weed and let me tell you, Kelloggs makes some of the finest stoner food known to mankind. But there is even a bigger problem with their distancing themselves from Phelps, that is the fact that the products listed above are a contributor to childhood obesity and possibly diabetes. Their products have to be fortified because the possess no nutritional value on the own. They are empty calories that only serve to diminish optimal health and spike insulin levels. Isn’t it
So the way I see it is Michael Phelps is a well liked and respected world class athlete that sets a very good and positive example for kids and adults on how with hard work and dedication toward a goal, great things can be accomplished. On the other hand, Kelloggs creates products that serve only to be a detriment to good health and are a go to food for the munchies by people who like to do what poor Michael was fired for. It’s a crazy world and a lot of times things don’t’ make sense, but use your own good judgement to see through this marketing horseshit and still cheer for Michael.

I read article this morning written by a women in Toronto who goes by the moniker “Ask The Expert”. I said to myself, self, let’s read about what she has to say about artificial sweeteners, Aspartame in particular, and see what she had to say. Well I was quite suprised when she said that there are “NO HARMFUL” affects from drinking diet soda, in fact she recommended it over regular soda because there was no sugar in it. First of all, the body has metabolic pathways that break sugar down, convert it to glucose and then shuttle it throughout the body to be used as energy. The second flaw in her argument was that aspartame has numerous intermediate compounds with a few of them being formaldehyde and fumaric acid(active ingredient in fire ant venom), and wood alchohol for those of you who are in the market for brain lesions and/tumors. I am just scratching the surface of this poison that has been sold to the public as a safe alternative to sugar(I will talk about High Fructose Corn Syrup at another time), so do some more investigating on your own, it’s called the Internet. Take a few minutes and watch this video and educate yourself. Protocol Supplements is here to give you the very best in nutrition and performance products as well as keeping you informed about what is not good for you and your family. Now stop with the diet crap and drink some water.
